Present & Pleased Devotional DAY EIGHT

We all go through stretches in our lives where we can’t seem to get it right. Ever feel like you’re trying to do the right things but it appears you’re simply spinning your wheels? It happens to all of us.

The apostle Paul also battled the same thing. Listen to his words from Romans 7:15-16 “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.”

Where do we turn for hope when we feel defeated by our sin? Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

The Central Worship song New Day embodies this grace-driven theme. The lyrics can remind us of our struggles:

“Again it’s what I want to do I just don’t. The very things I shouldn’t do, I do the most.”

“Failure floods fast reminding me that I’ve been known to run from the Great I Am. Drowning in the mess of my own master plan.”

God is faithful with His mercy and grace each morning. As maybe the sun sets on a bad day, fresh mercy arrives each day.

The heart of the song reminds us: “It’s a new day to sing your praise. Yesterday is done and gone, defeated by grace.”

Take in the goodness and kindness of our God as He offers new grace and mercy. Renew your praise to Him each day. He is worthy of the praise we are to bring to Him.
