Present & Pleased Devotional DAY THIRTEEN

"God rewards those who sincerely seek Him."  Hebrews 11:6

I heard about a little boy who whistled real loudly in church during the preacher’s prayer one Sunday morning. His mother was mortified; she pinched him in the side. After the service, she said, “Why in the world did you do that?” He said, “I’ve been praying for God to teach me to whistle, and He just then did.”

Faith doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed an immediate whistle, immediate healing, financial security, happy marriage. It does mean the seeds we sow in faith will one day reap a harvest for God.

I know people who have almost given up on their marriages, but because of their faith, they decided to give it one more try, and now their marriage isn’t perfect, but it’s better than it’s ever been.

I know people who have died of cancer. But they died with their faith in Jesus stronger than ever. God rewarded their faith, and now they’re enjoying the perfect healing Jesus promises Christians.

"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
