PrayerWorks Devotional Day 13 – A Desperate Prayer

Regular communication is a key component in fostering any relationship. The people you know the best are those that have shared their heart, their experiences, their joys, and their fears with you over the years.  The same is true in reverse. Those that you have been the most forthcoming and vulnerable with often care about you the most. The same is true with our relationship with GOD. We feel the most connected with our Heavenly Father when we are openly communicating with Him on a regular basis. He hears us, and in turn (when we take the time) we can hear His heart. But what about the times when we don’t talk to Jesus on a consistent basis? Does He still respond? Does He still care?

The answer is, “yes.”

“As my life was slipping away, I remembered the LORD. And my earnest prayer went out to You in your holy Temple.” (Jonah 2:7 NLT)

GOD still cares even when we forget or don’t make time to spend with Him. Jonah walked the other way from GOD’s purposes for his life, but when he “remembered the LORD,” GOD responded in help. The same is true for us. Jesus loves us so much, that He is willing to respond to our sincere and heartfelt prayers, even if it has been a while. Maybe you swiped on the app today and, if you were honest, you have not spent much time with Jesus in prayer for a quite a while, or maybe ever. He is a listener. He is ready to open the communication lines with you and talk with you today.
