PrayerWorks Devotional Day 8 – Prayer of Confession
Praying by yourself is an important practice for a disciple of Jesus Christ. He even taught His friends this lesson right before He demonstrated the ‘Lord’s Prayer.’ “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you” (Matthew 6:6 NLT).
But Jesus also desires for us to have authentic, honest prayer with other Christians. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16 NLT)
Something happens when we get honest with each other. Healing is found as the secret burdens that have chained us up to insecurity are broken. Our brothers and sisters in Jesus pray on our behalf, and share their burdens with us and all of a sudden all begin to find healing and wholeness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Get with someone today and try to find some time to pray together. If you cannot make it work time wise, find out how you can be praying for them and tell them what they can be praying about for you. Don’t be fake and pretend you have it all together. Be honest and see how GOD will work and bring healing.
