The Truth.

Last weekend at Central (, Senior Pastor Jamie Allen started a new lesson series called “Truth In Troubled Times.” Man am I glad he did! The times might not seem favorable for narrow teaching like this but the lessons are invaluable for all who will listen!

2 Timothy 4

Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

Take a look around. See the way we act. Listen to the way we talk.

We have become a quickly offended, fast to fear, little or brittle backbone kind of people. Denying an absolute foundation. Blinded to any fixed baseline or immovable moral reference point. Everything from human life to human rights are up for grab. It’s all debatable.

“A truth” verses “The truth.” “My will” over “Thy will.”

Wars wage when my truth is my truth, and your truth is yours.

Unrest reigns when the loudest voice gains greatest attention, and correct is confused with convenient.

But mankind is designed to be at our best when we live under the shelter of surrender. The protecting acknowledgement that I am not supreme. Freed by confessing – my truth must be His truth, because His truth is THE truth. And like the One it defines, THE truth doesn’t shift. THE truth does not change.

Jesus Himself made it pretty clear in John 14:6 when He said, “I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Don’t miss this series at Central. Your life could change forever…and that’s The Truth!
