Timeout
In basketball, timeouts are provided under the rules, to give players a chance to rest, give coaches the ability to talk things over with their team, and to provide players and coaches a way to stop the clock in late-game situations.
Key Verses: Matthew 26:36 – 46
Key points…In the madness of Jesus’ final hours, He stopped for timeout, a time to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. This time of prayer prepared Him for His greatest challenge.
We will see several lessons from Jesus about prayer.
1. The garden was a place of prayer.
2. The garden was a place of privacy.
3. The garden was a place of passion.
4. The garden was a place of humility.
5. The garden was a place of obedience.
6. The garden was a place of understanding.
7. The garden was a place of repetition.
8. The garden was a place of strengthening.
Two things to take home…
Daily prayer prepares us for effective emergency prayer.
Prayer usually strengthens us more than it changes circumstances.
